Throughout Middle East history, Oriental dance (the proper term for Belly Dance) has been a family dance done at such occasions as weddings, births and festivals. Belly Dance or Raqs Sharki is an expressive dance which emphasizes complex movements of isolations and rhythms. Originally, a Middle Eastern folk dance, it has evolved to take on many different forms depending on the country and region, both in costume and dance styles. Adriane will be teaching a comprehensive program designed to introduce her students to the elegant, expressive and beautiful art of belly dance. This class based on a curriculum. Props will also be introduced each semester.
